Travel!

This summer I hope to travel to a few places. Making jewelry has inspired me to do this because of the new ideas and things it has helped me to discover.

I hope to  travel to some of the places where precious stones are mined. I think it would  be so awsome to find these beautiful items  where they are created and use them in my designs.  Amethyst, crystal quartz, jasper and many of my other favorites.  I have now become a collector. when I  find a new stone I love I make a peice of jewelry just for myself! So far I have 2 crystal quartz necklaces and one Amethyst one. I still need to make an Agate one.

I'd also like to go to the ocean and the sea! Finding seashells and sea glass would be so great. Ive learned to wire wrap so they would be added into m jewelry aswell

Cats love hemp to

In an old apartment I used to live in my neighbors cat was sitting in the hallway listening to us talk.  It just sat there. I had a hemp anklet  with one bead on it. I decided to give it to the cat, because he looked really bored and I thought he would have some fun with it.

So, I put it on the floor, He looked at it then batted it with his furry black paw....

Then in a wild haze he took off... with the hemp anklet

Loving every momment of it.   His eyes were huge the same as what cat nip would do to a cat..
He took it to the kitchen  and played with it on the lenolium  for  who knows how long, becasue I'd gone home.

After this experience Ive come to the conclusion that hemp makes cats high. So I've been working on some cat toys. Keep checking back for new cat toy designs!

Polymere Clay/ Ceramics

I just got this really great embossing kit for polymere clay. I'll probly try it in natural clay aswell.
Now I can do items with custom writting and words on it.  I'm still learning to use polymere clay, but its a lot of fun.  I love creating new things. How fun!

Meeting awsome people while selling jewelry!

Meeting awsome people

One thing I enjoy about making and selling my jewelry designs is meeting new people. I meet all sorts of interesting people.  I met this girl at Starbucks. I decided to give her a bracelet because I thought it suited her. See it? She was really into vintage and old designs. She was actually going to school for it. It was a lot of fun talking to her and she totally consented to being a BLOG model . Awsome hey!

It comes in all kinds of shapes so I have gotten quite a few ideas . One of my favorites is the item bellow. The coral wrapped in hemp as a hemp bracelet.

Toby & Sophia my new kittens

Two new friends came to live with me over the
Christmas holidays. Two 8 week old kittens. They are 10 weeks now and sooo adorable!

As much as I love hemp jewelry, they do to. I think I made the mistake of letting them have  a few beads to play with.  As soon as they saw my container of beads and my box of hemp they were thinking they were in kitten heaven!  I had to sacrafice some feathers , about 8 to distract them from crawling up my back and legs because they were trying to get  some of my jewelry.
I threw the feathers in the air and  happy and distracted they were playing with the feathers. It was worth the sacrafice.  Mabey I will make a kitten toy for them to play with with the feathers.
I decided to name them Toby & Sofia. They are simply adorable.  and definatly will be so spoiled.

Messily creative !

I love getting new beads! How exciting.  When I get then though I take them out of the package and mix them all in a giant container. Some would think that this would lead to a state of the caotic, but in my case I find that it helps me to come up with new ideas and designs.
Mixing them helps me to see which beads go best with each other and totally inspires me to be fully creative.  I think I've gotten some of my best ideas by just  having a large pile  of beads laying infront of me on a table waiting to be chosen.

Turtle Hemp necklace

This necklace I mixed black hemp and brown hemp together, I really  liked the effect.

Peace Keychain

Peace is the answer right. I plan to make more of these keychains. Fun!

Morocan/ Indian style necklace. Something new!

I decided to  try some thing new. I came up with this design. Its  sortos a morocan / indian design.  A variety of wooden beads and ceramic beads mixed together . Let me know what you think of it.  I really enjoy coming up with new ideas and designs. Sometimes I will look at other jewelry and mix themes and ideas together. Sometimes my jewelry has a story behind it.   I really like this design. I think others will aswell!

How to seal your Hemp Jewelry

When I first started making hemp jewelry, sometimes I had problems with the knots on the ends coming apart and fraying.
I met a lady who told me she would use clear nail polish to stop the fraying in her nylons, so why not try it on the hemp jewelry. So I did , and it worked!

When you are finished knotting your item,  Put a dad of  clear nail polish on the knot and it will hold.

In the bracelet in the photo, I put clear nail polish on the knots on the ends and in the centre.

It will smell until it drys. Then the smell goes away.

It works perfect and never comes undone. Making perfect jewelry!

Red Dragon Coral Hemp Keychain

I've recently started making  hemp keychains.  I use precious stones and other beads. Sometimes I make hemp figures of different sorts. Its a lot of fun and  they turn out really cute.

Handmade prices versus shopping in the mall

Handmade items are special . Why? Because when one is making something handmade, care, creativity and uniqueness are put into what is being made.
When purchasing a handmade creation the prices will more than likely be higher than a store bought item. This is because  store bought items are factory made and  usually come in mass quantities.   It also costs more to make handmade items most of the time. Supplies, time,  etc.
I've met some peoploe who don't understand why I can't sell an item for 5 dolallars. Well  most of the time it cost that much to make it.
So, the next time you are at a market and see a really awsome item but the price seems high, just remember that it was handmade with love and not mass produced and shipped here on wholesale prices. Remember that that item is awsome becasue it is unique and made by a local artist.

Amethyst

I love the amethyst stone. I think because I love the colour purple.  I love the ways the purples and whites swirl together . I love how they are sometime chunked together with whites and clear stones. Alot of the time  in my stones I find amethyst mixed in with quartz or jasper . Mabey even other types of stones.
So beautiful. Just one of Gods beautiful creations!

Late hours n lovin it

I am a night owl. I function best at night, Have the most energy at night. I do most of my work at night.
I used to think that there was something wrong with that but now I don't. How many night people are there in the world? Tons!  So I have decided to continue in my night time hours and I am totally content in that.

Carnelian stones on brown hemp

Carnelian is one of my favorite stones. I read somewhere that it was used by royalty in India  back in history. I thought that was interesting. I just really adore it because of the way it looks and feels. The mixes of orange and  reds and  some yellows.  The way it all mixes together into a translucent picture within the stone.  I jsut really love it.  That's why I enjoy the look of this necklace.

Video I put together

Stones & Gems

Finding new gems & stones is one of my passions!  They are all so beautiful. I am still learning about them and discovering new types.Over the christmas season I found some great stones that were bagged. Unfortunatly, I don't know the names of all of them but they are perfect to be wirewrapped ( which Im gonna do)

Some of these are Amethyst, Jasper and I'm not sure what the others are.

I love these Corals.  I once was going to stop using coral but then I was informed by a shop that  alot of corals are farmed and not taken from the coral reifs. Which is great!

Jewelry with these stones will be coming soon!
